Court date changed for gang-killing suspects

ELIZABETHTOWN — A tentative date set for an Essex County Court status hearing in the Keeseville gang killing was moved to Jan. 10.

Three men arrested by State Police in early October in connection with the homicide of Robert Rennie are facing murder and manslaughter charges.

Paul J. Taylor, 39, of Keeseville is charged with second-degree murder, felony gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Rennie’s death in August.

Police arrested two other Keeseville men — Michael D. Rivers, 36; and Scott E. Denno, 19 — in connection with the alleged gang attack.

Rivers and Denno are both charged with first-degree manslaughter, felony gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

All of the men pleaded not guilty when arraigned in Essex County Court last October; the original status-hearing date had been Thursday.

The three are held in jail, awaiting trial.

Police said Rennie died of internal injuries after being severely beaten on a path near the closed iron bridge in Keeseville on Aug. 26.

He was a single father of two young girls.
