Hydrant training set in Dannemora

DANNEMORA — Dannemora Volunteer Fire Department will conduct fire-hydrant training on Monday evening.

Residents may have cloudy water that night and on Tuesday.

DWI crackdown continues through holiday

ALBANY — Police are conducting their third STOP-DWI crackdown of 2012 throughout the area this weekend.

State and local law enforcement agencies are out in full force statewide through Tuesday with sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to deter impaired driving, according to a news release from the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Motorists are reminded that driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher will put them over the limit and will result in arrest.  

“If drivers don’t drive sober, they will get pulled over,” the release said.

The next crackdown aimed at making roadways safer is set for the Fourth of July holiday, June 29 through July 5; with a National Enforcement Crackdown Aug. 17 through Sept. 3; another Oct. 26 through 31 and the final one for 2012, Dec. 12 through Jan. 1.

Peru Council continues handbook review

PERU — The Peru Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to continue review of the Employee Handbook.

The meeting will take place downstairs in the Peru Town Hall.

The public is welcome.
