PLATTSBURGH — The 2013 road-construction season is continuing.
Crews ask that motorists use caution when driving through work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding.
Here’s a look at the major projects around Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties:
Couch Street, City of Plattsburgh: Crews are performing road construction from William Street to North Catherine Street. The road is closed except for local traffic.
Narrows Road, Ellenburg: Crews are rehabilitating the Narrows Road Bridge. During construction, the road will be closed, and a detour will be in place. Work is expected to be completed by mid November.
Lake Shore Road, Chazy: Crews are rehabilitating the bridge over the Little Chazy River immediately south of Lapointe Road. The road is closed, and a detour is in place. Work is expected to be completed by Labor Day.
Route 190, Altona: Crews are repairing washout damage from Devil’s Den Road to Duquette Road. The road is reduced to one lane. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.
Route 374, Cadyville: Crews are repairing washout damage between Trudeau and Church roads. Traffic is reduced to one lane.
Interstate 87, Plattsburgh: The northbound and southbound lanes have been reduced to one lane from Route 3 to Exit 39. The work-zone speed is 45 mph. There is a signed detour for motorists trying to use the Exit 38 northbound on-ramp, which is closed. There are lane restrictions of 16 feet in the southbound lane and 18 feet in the northbound lane. One-lane traffic will remain until early October.
Route 22, Plattsburgh: Crews are reconstructing the overpass over Interstate 87. There are some daily lane closures. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.
White Church Road, Crown Point: Crews are paving. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Johnson Pond Road, North Hudson: Crews are performing surface treatment operations. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
