Best-selling author to read from novel

LAKE PLACID — International best-selling author Hillary Jordan will be the guest speaker at Meet the Author Night at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Whiteface Lodge, 7 Whiteface Inn Road.

Jordan will discuss her novel “When She Woke.”

The cost is $5. The pre-reading event, which starts at 6:30 p.m., includes a cash bar with a choice of appetizers. The reading starts at 7 p.m.

Storytime to celebrate drumming

LAKE PLACID — The Bookstore Plus will host the Second Saturday Storytime at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at its 2491 Main St. location.

Children will celebrate international drum month by reading stories and doing a craft.

Book sale to benefit mission projects

CROWN POINT — The Crown Point United Methodist Women are sponsoring Autumn Fest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the church’s 1682 Creek Road location.

A large variety of books will be for sale, as well as baked goods and homemade soup, michigans and hot dogs. Proceeds help the group with various mission projects, such as the Ecumenical Food Pantry.
