Grant received

PLATTSBURGH — The Advancing BSN Education in the Champlain Valley Project at CVPH Medical Center has received grant funding of $93,021, which was awarded by the New York State Department of Labor’s H-1B Registered Nurse Upgrade Project.

The project will target 27 registered nurses at CVPH who provide or supervise patient care for residents of Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

This project builds on a long-standing relationship between CVPH and Plattsburgh State University regarding nursing education. This includes clinical rotations and seeking ways to support RNs at CVPH Medical Center who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The PSU RN to BSN program has been on-site at CVPH since the fall of 2011. The grant will provide funds for this on-site cohort of RNs and RNs seeking their BSN through PSU’s on-line RN to BSN program. A cash match will be provided by CVPH in the form of tuition reimbursement as well as scholarships for the on-site program, which are provided by the Foundation at CVPH Medical Center.
