Community Calendar: June 28, 2013

The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear. 

Items should be brief, listing the time, date, place, prices, a contact number and any other essential information.

All items in the calendar must be open to the public.

TODAY

Vacation Bible School. 9 a.m to noon. Willsboro Methodist Church. Theme is “Son West Roundup,” for children pre-K through sixth grade. Music, Bible stories, crafts, games, special snacks. Wear a cowboy hat and receive a western neckerchief. Register at 963-7772. For Willsboro and Essex communities.

Medieval Fantasy Faire: Krebashia Kingdom. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Chateaugay Recreational Park. Horse jousting, belly dancing, sword fighting, juggling, fire arts, comedy, Rat Man, Wheel of Death, archery shoot, blacksmith, Adirondack Wildlife Refuge, bands, Up North barbecue, vendors, two pools. Adults, $10; students, $5; 5 and younger, free. Corrections and military discount with identification. By the Ekrub Players Inc., a nonprofit children’s performance arts group. 

Youth Art Camp. 9 to 11:30 a.m. Beekmantown Elementary School all-purpose room. Students beginning second grade to seventh grade can participate in art through drawing, painting, sculpting and tie-dying, will learn about famous artists and create art to take home. Students should wear clothing appropriate for messy art and bring a positive attitude, water bottle and snack. Non-resident fee, $40, free for town residents. Register by calling 561-1149 or upon arrival.

53rd Rouses Point Fourth of July Celebration. 4 p.m. to midnight. Rouses Point Civic Center, inside and in parking lot, Lake Street. Carnival rides, food booths, games, horse rides, vendors, Libations Tent. Community Singers and Strawhatters concert band, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Slab City, 8 p.m. to midnight.
