LAKE PLACID — An event Monday will honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and express support for Boston and its residents.
BostonStrongLP invites one and all to run or walk around Mirror Lake at 6 p.m., starting from Lake Placid Beach and observing the first half mile in silence for those who died and were injured at Monday’s tragedy.
People are invited to take their dogs along, push babies in strollers or participate however they choose, a press release said.
“RSVP on facebook or just show up,” organizer Greg Borzilleri said. “If anyone would like to contribute to a victims fund, there will be shirts for sale and a collection box.”
That is not the primary purpose, however, he said.
“We are going to run to show our support for Boston and its people.”
A reception will follow at the Lake Placid Conference Center. Free pizza and beverages will be provided by Centerplate and Price Chopper. LP Pub and Brewery afterwards will sell pints for $3, with proceeds going to The One Fund Boston Inc., formed this week to assist those most affected by the bombings.
Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club Lake Placid, Golden Arrow Resort, Burnham Benefit Advisors, Graymont and Mirror Lake Inn contributed funds to pay for the T-shirts for sale on Monday to benefit that fund as well.
