Community Calendar: April 19, 2013

The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear. 

Items should be brief, listing the time, date, place, prices, a contact number and any other essential information.

All items in the calendar must be open to the public.

EVERYTHING LISTED IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Some events require preregistration or reservations, so make sure to look for those details.

EVENTS

TODAY 

Family Game Night. 6:30 p.m. First Congregational Church, 2 Clay Street, Malone. Bring favorite board game or join in on games at church. Meal and/or dessert bar. 

Spring Book Sale. 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Plattsburgh Public Library, 19 Oak St. (upstairs). Except for some specially priced books, prices are 50 cents for hardcover and 25 cents for paperbacks.

SAT., APRIL 20

Firefighters Plunge for Protection. 10 a.m. In the Ausable River near the gazebo behind the Grand Union, AuSable Forks. Pledges for participants who plunge in the frigid waters will be used for water-rescue training and equipment for the AuSable Forks Volunteer Fire Department.

Second-annual Samantha Donah Memorial Benefit for CV-TEC. Noon, Geoffrey’s Pub & Restaurant, 5453 Peru St., Plattsburgh. Lunch buffet, raffles, auctions, music by Tunes of Time DJ Service, pedestrian and bike safety awareness and more. $12 per person. To benefit Allied Health Scholarships and ADK Humane Society. Sponsored by Glenn Scroggins Contracting and Papa Electric. 

Street Jam Carnival. 3 to 5 p.m., SUNY Plattsburgh. A section of Rugar Street from Memorial Hall to Hood Hall will be blocked off for the event. Music, food and more. Sponsored by Club Caribbean.
