Moriah Central sets special session for April 25

MORIAH — The Moriah Central School Board will hold a special meeting to vote on the BOCES Board and budget at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 25, in the central office boardroom. 

The order of candidates for the Moriah Central School Board that will appear on the voting machines will also be drawn at this meeting. 

A public hearing to present the 2013-14 budget will be held at 6 p.m. May 7 in the High School Library.

Both meetings are open to the public.

Volunteers sought for Mission of Hope project

PLATTSBURGH — North Country Mission of Hope needs five strong volunteers to help move equipment and supplies from a Plattsburgh medical office that has been donated to the Plattsburgh-based humanitarian-aid group.

Also needed are a few more pickup trucks with trailers.

The project is set for the morning of Thursday, April 25, and should take a couple of hours, according to mission Executive Director Sister Debbie Blow.

The medical equipment and supplies will be shipped to Nicaragua, where Mission of Hope has a medical clinic and assists many other facilities.

The organization’s next mission is set for late July; the deadline to apply as a volunteer for the trip is April 30.

Beekmantown School Board to act on CVES budget

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in the superintendent’s office. 

Agenda items include voting on the five vacant seats on the Champlain Valley Education Services Board of Education and the tentative CVES administrative budget.
