New hires

LAKE PLACID — Adworkshop, an employee-owned digital marketing agency, has added four marketing professionals to the company's growing search-marketing, account-management, web-development and operations teams.

David Conlan of Verona, N.J., joins the Adworkshop staff as an account executive. Conlan most recently worked in multimedia design consulting in California. He worked as the marketing coordinator for RMI Expeditions, gaining experience in digital marketing. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a master's in Instructional Technology from California State University, Chico.

Michael Bollen of Canandaigua will be working as a search-marketing specialist. He brings knowledge in search-engine marketing, e-commerce and online marketing from his experience as a consultant for small businesses. Bollen is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo, where he earned his bachelor's in Business Administration with a focus in international business. He brings knowledge of Mandarin Chinese and German, as well as international marketing practices from his studies in Singapore and China as an exchange student.

Stephen Wolff is Adworkshop's newest web developer. Wolff, of Saranac Lake, holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence from Connecticut College. Wolff gained experience in computer programming through his collegiate physics research. He also brings extensive knowledge of the Adirondack region.

Chelsea Soules, who moved to Sydney, Australia, for four months to perform social-media and web-strategy work for Transfield Services, rejoins the Adworkshop team. Effective in March, Soules will act as the agency's operations assistant, reporting to Sandra Gagnon, who was recently promoted to agency director. Soules will be taking on responsibilities of finance, human resources and operations previously allocated to Kristy Mihill, who has been promoted to media coordinator.

Business workshop

MALONE — The North Country Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Comlinks Women's Entrepreneurial Business Center (WEBC) and the Malone Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a workshop for individuals who are thinking about starting their own business but do not know where to begin.
