PLATTSBURGH — The Military Turnpike/Route 190 will remain shut down between Irish Settlement Road and Carbide Road until at least 10 tonight, due to power poles and lines torn down by a tractor-trailer.
The truck had just dropped off a vehicle transmission at Simpson’s Auto Repair and snagged the overhead power lines as it was pulling back out onto the road at around 12:15 p.m. Residents in the immediate vicinity are without power as the poles and lines are replaced.
No one was injured.
"If you normally travel on Route 190 between the Plattsburgh and Peru areas, please seek alternate routes around the section of Route 190 between the Carbide Road and the Irish Settlement Road," Clinton County Emergency Services Director Eric Day said in a roadway-emergency alert.
"If you have to travel in this area, expect delays."
