ALTONA — A 23-year-old Altona man died Aug. 8 of injuries he sustained from a car accident that occurred four days earlier.
At about 3:55 a.m. Aug. 4, Anthony H. Boulerice was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier two-door sedan north on Rand Hill Road/County Route 24 in the Town of Altona at "a high rate of speed," said Plattsburgh-based State Police Sgt. April Strack, who was citing a Chazy-based trooper's accident report.
He was trying to negotiate a right-hand curve, she said, when the vehicle left the road via the east shoulder.
Boulerice lost control of the car on the gravel shoulder, the report said, and traveled about 75 feet before re-entering the roadway, spinning across the road and traveling 70 feet on the west shoulder before becoming airborne, the report said.
The driver's side of the car then struck a tree, Strack said.
The car left 130 feet of skid marks on the road, she said.
Boulerice was first taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh before he was transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Strack said.
He was originally listed in critical condition, she said.
The findings of an Aug. 9 autopsy by Fletcher Allen Health Care Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Steven Sharipo were not available Wednesday.
Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the accident were also unavailable, as the crash remained under investigation.
Calling hours, followed by a funeral service, were held Monday at Ross Funeral Home in Mooers.
Boulerice is survived by family and friends, including his parents, David and Lori Manor, and siblings, Kenny Manor and his wife, Crystal; Jerry Pelkey; Girard Ashline and Elizabeth Pelkey.
