Alleged stabbing results in arrest

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman who allegedly stabbed someone at 207 South Peru St. on Sunday evening faces a charge of second-degree assault with intent to use a deadly weapon, a felony.

Plattsburgh City Police say a domestic incident was unfolding at the residence, and Jackie Staley, 41, was holding a knife when she punched Niraa Shilling, 37, inflicting superficial wounds on the Plattsburgh man.

She was arrested at about 6:10 p.m. and later arraigned in City Court; she is also charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor.

She posted $2,000 bail; police didn’t yet know the date of her next court appearance.

Shilling, also of Plattsburgh, was treated at CVPH Medical Center then released, City Police Chief Desmond Racicot said.
