---- — PLATTSBURGH — The 2013 road-construction season is continuing.
Crews ask that motorists use caution when driving through work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding.
Here’s a look at some of the major projects around Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties:
Narrows Road, Ellenburg: Crews are rehabilitating the Narrows Road Bridge. During construction, the road will be closed, and a detour will be in place. Work is expected to be completed by mid November.
Clinton Mills Road, Mooers: Crews are paving Clinton Mills Road between Canaan Road and Route 189. Motorists should expect some delays.
Frontier Road, Churubusco: Crews are paving between Route 189 and Lost Nation Road. Expect minor delays.
Interstate 87, Plattsburgh: The northbound and southbound lanes have been reduced to one lane from Route 3 to Exit 39. The work-zone speed is 45 mph. A signed detour is in place for motorists trying to use the Exit 38 northbound on-ramp, which is closed. There are lane restrictions of 16 feet in the southbound lane and 18 feet in the northbound lane. One-lane traffic will remain until early October.
Route 22, Plattsburgh: Crews are reconstructing the overpass over Interstate 87. There are some daily lane closures. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.
Route 9, Chesterfield: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions at the Chesterfield/Lewis line and is controlled by a temporary signal.
Route 86, Wilmington: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions from the Jay/Wilmington line to Route 431 until further notice. Crews are repairing the bridge over the Ausable River, a half-mile north of Fox Farm Road. Traffic is controlled by a temporary signal.
Adirondack Loj Road, North Elba: Motorists should use the temporary bridge while crews perform a replacement project.
Route 73, North Elba: Crews are working on the bridge over the west branch of the Ausable River near the Ski Jumps. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions. Work takes place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Completion is expected on Sept. 27.
Mountain View Drive, Reber: Crews are performing a bridge-reconstruction project, which is expected to take several months to complete.
Interstate 87, Town of Chesterfield: Northbound traffic has been reduced to one lane from Exit 32 to the AuSable/Chesterfield line. Motorists should expect lane closures in both the northbound and southbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Work is expected to be complete in late November.
Route 22, Westport: Traffic has been reduced to a single lane in alternating directions from the Essex/Westport line to the Westport/Moriah line. The work, with completion expected in late November, is taking place between the Wadhams hamlet and Route 8. Traffic is controlled by a temporary signal.
Center Road, Moriah Center: Crews are performing a bridge-reconstruction project, which is expected to take several months to complete.
Route 185, Crown Point: Crews are performing bridge construction in both directions. There may be single-lane closures as the work is performed. Motorists are urged to use caution between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Work is expected to be complete in late September.
Route 9N, Crown Point: Traffic has been reduced to one lane moving in alternating directions at Bridge Road. Traffic is controlled by flaggers. Work is expected to be complete this evening.
Countywide road construction: Crews are performing general maintenance throughout the county. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Water Street, Fort Covington: A long-term water-main project has begun. Water Street has been narrowed to two lanes northbound and one lane southbound between John and Beekman streets. Work will continue until next spring.
Route 11, Malone: Crews are working on the bridge downtown between Harrison Place and Elm Street. Traffic has been reduced to one lane.
County Route 41, Malone: Crews are performing culvert work. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Route 11B, Dickinson Center: Crews are working between the Lawrence/Dickinson line and the St. Lawrence County/Franklin county line. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Route 458, St. Regis Falls: Crews are working on the bridge at the intersection of Moira Street and St. Regis Falls Road.
