Adams Glass in new space

PLATTSBURGH — Adams Glass has moved into a new location, right across the road from its previous spot.

Owner Julie Dandrow-Reidy said they now have 10,000 square feet of display area, offices and work space at 5 Trade Road near the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department in the Town of Plattsburgh.

“We needed a little bit more space,” she said, adding that the new location is about twice the size of the previous one.

Windows plentiful

As would be expected, the display and office areas are bright spaces thanks to numerous windows.

Adams Glass offers glass for a wide variety of commercial and residential uses. That includes plate glass for windows, picture frames, kitchen cabinets, tabletops and other household needs.

Glass is available in clear, tinted, patterned, beveled and polished finishes. The staff can offer thermoplane replacement as well as screen and storm window repair and new installations.

Adams Glass also offers mirrors, plexiglass and Lexan. Dandrow-Reidy said they recently started to offer vinyl windows and glass shower doors and enclosures.

On the commercial side, the company offers aluminum storefronts and entrances, aluminum railings and wind screens for decks and porches, aluminum windows, curtain walls, custom glass walls and doors and door and window hardware.

The company does most of its work in the tri-county area, but also has customers in St. Lawrence County and northern Vermont.

Conroy and Conroy was the general contractor, Dandrow-Reidy said, and all of the subcontractors were local.

“We did the glass ourselves,” she said.

Former site available

Construction started in January and was complete by the end of July. They still have some inventory in storage in the old location, but the building is available for sale or lease, Dandrow-Reidy said.

Dandrow-Reidy acquired Adams Glass in 2005. Originally located on Lafayette Street, the company was founded by Ed Adams in 1954.
