Fishing, hiking, amusement parks part of summer fun

Burlington residents Joe Piscotty, 62, and Carol Maulhardt, 60, did some camping and canoeing by St. Regis Lake in Franklin County.

On a visit to Plattsburgh, they sat on the lawn by the Macdonough Monument watching sunlight glisten on the Saranac River.

They were excited to take advantage of the North Country scenery the next day.

Kim Delcore, 47, of Plattsburgh treated herself to some fun at an amusement park. She traveled to the Great Escape in Lake George, where, she said, her favorite ride was the Comet.

The 80-year-old wooden roller coaster peaks at 98 feet tall and is “rated one of the top wooden coasters in the world,” according to the Great Escape website.

Delcore said she also took a day off from work to spend some quality time at Adirondack Golf Course in Peru for a tournament there.

She managed to spend a few days hiking at Point au Roche State Park in Beekmantown with her two dogs.

“My summer was great,” Delcore said.
