Info day planned for Mooers community center

MOOERS — The public is invited to share ideas for the new library/community center planned for Mooers at an informational day hosted by the Mooers Free Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

At the event, to be held at the Mooers Elementary School pavilion with board members and the director taking part, there will be a barbecue with hot dogs and michigans with chips, drinks and dessert.

The Friends of the Mooers Free Library will also have a book sale. Books will be sold for $5 a bag. Bags will be available.

“Libraries are moving towards a community-center approach to providing informational resources, as more patrons access books on their computers, tablets, and smartphones,” a press release said. “While traditional books may continue to exist, information can now be accessed and used in a variety of ways.”

The reason for the new facility, planned for a location on School Street, is to provide access to the individuals with disabilities, as the existing library cannot do so.
