Community Calendar: May 3, 2013

The Press-Republican events calendar appears every Friday. Be sure submissions reach the Press-Republican newsroom at least one week before the calendar in which they need to appear. 

Items should be brief, listing the time, date, place, prices, a contact number and any other essential information.

All items in the calendar must be open to the public.

Saranac Lake Daffest. 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jail and Bail for Bulbs. Organized by Janie’s For Hair. $25 donation also buys 50 daffodil bulbs, Call Janie at 637-4990 or LeeAnn at 586-1573 or check daffest.com; noon, slide show of French Gardens, Left Bank Café; and 7 to 9 p.m., The Dust Bunnies perform at Left Bank Café.

May Day for Relay Purple Events. A day to wear or display purple to show your support for Relay for Life events. Enter the May Day contest to win the prize for best May Day spirit. Send pictures of public displays of purple with contact information to Molly Ryan at maydayrfl@gmail.com by May 10 and the May Day Committee will award the winner a party hosted by Olive Ridley’s for up to 50.

Parents Night Out. 6 to 9 p.m. Nazarene Church, 187 Broad St., Plattsburgh. All children, infant through sixth grade are invited to a free night of pizza, gym games, crafts and more. Children need to wear sneakers. Call 561-1960 to register. 

54th-annual Essex County Bar Association Law Day Dinner. Westport Hotel. In recognition of 1958 Law Day Proclamation. The Essex County Bar Association will present the Liberty Bell Award to Jane H. Peck of Wilmington in recognition of her many years of tireless community leadership and volunteer work. $25 per person includes tax and tip. Call Michael D. McCormich at 834-7700 to register and choose prime rib, baked haddock or vegetarian broccoli Alfredo.
