Train hits van in Crown Point

CROWN POINT — An unoccupied vehicle was damaged when a train hit it early Saturday morning.

The Ford van is registered to Anne Frank of Ferrisburgh, Vt., and was hit at about 3 a.m. by a Canadian-Pacific train on Lake Road in Crown Point, Lewis-based State Police said.

The van was parked near the train tracks, police said.

After hitting the van, the train stopped. State Police spoke with the crew and the vehicle was later towed away, police said.

The Crown Point Volunteer Fire Department and the Ticonderoga Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident site.

In the police report, the vehicle was listed as “damaged or destroyed” but the extent of the damage was unknown.

Frank has been notified of the incident.

State Police continue to investigate.
