CHAMPLAIN — On Tuesday, Nov. 6, North Country Family Health on Route 11 in Champlain will officially become part of Hudson Headwaters Health Network.
Hudson Headwaters is a federally qualified health-care provider with 15 area health centers.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Maurice Racine and his staff to our group,” Dr. John Rugge, CEO of Hudson Headwaters, said in a news release.
Rugge said patients of Racine’s practice, which used to be called the North Country Medical Group, will see continuity of care and additional benefits.
“The federal community health center program is designed to provide access to care regardless of a person’s income or insurance,” Rugge said. “We offer programs that provide discounted medical fees and pharmaceuticals for low-income patients. This year, we’ll help eligible patients receive $1.5 million worth of needed medicine.”
More information about Hudson Headwaters is being mailed to Racine’s list of current patients, Rugge said.
“My staff and I are extremely pleased to be part of Hudson Headwaters,” Racine said in a statement.
Racine, who started the practice more than 30 years ago, said he sought to join Hudson Headwaters to ensure that his patients would have access to essential health-care services over the long term.
“Hudson Headwaters has an excellent record for providing rural primary health care. I am confident that the people of our area, including Chazy, Mooers and Rouses Point, will benefit from having Hudson Headwaters be a part of our communities.”
Hudson Headwaters also has health-care facilities in Bolton Landing, Champlain, Chestertown, Fort Edward, Glens Falls, Indian Lake, Moreau, Moriah, North Creek, Queensbury, Schroon Lake, Ticonderoga and Warrensburg.
Racine’s intention to join Hudson Headwaters was first announced in August at a press conference featuring New York State Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Nirav Shah, who noted that North Country Family Health is Clinton County’s first federally qualified health center.
