New officer

PLATTSBURGH — Raney Rock has joined UFirst Federal Credit Union as a junior collections officer.

Rock graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 2007 and continued his education at Clinton Community College, graduating in 2010 with an associate’s degree. Appointment announced

SARANAC LAKE — Shirley “Shooky” Walsh has joined Guide Boat Realty LLC as a licensed associate RE broker, according to broker and owner Chris Covert.

Walsh has been in real estate since 1977 in Saranac Lake. She came to the area by way of Nova Scotia and Boston for a summer job as an RN at the Lake Placid Hospital.

She was the owner and broker of Coldwell Banker Shirley M. Walsh Realty in the late 1980s and ‘90s. During this time, she served as president of the Northern Adirondack Board of Realtors and on numerous committees. Under her guidance as president, three major accomplishments were realized: the Standard Listing Contract, The Standard Contract of Sale as well as getting all agencies on board with the Multiple List Service (all before the computer age).

Certificate earned

PLATTSBURGH — Rosemary Souza-Botten, senior vice president at Northern Insuring/Northern Benefits, has earned a special certificate in Healthcare Reform Studies by successfully completing two courses through The American College: The Essentials of Healthcare Reform and The Healthcare Consultant.

The Essentials of Healthcare Reform covers all of the mandated changes and timelines of the Affordable Care Act, and The Healthcare Consultant covers the new role of advisers and consultants in the healthcare planning process.
