JAY — The Town of Jay is looking for a new building inspector and plans to fill the position no later than Sept. 1.
The new inspector must be state-certified at the grade level of Building Inspector III, and will replace previous Jay Building Inspector John Hudson.
The Town of Jay has had a lot of work recently for its building inspector, Jay Clerk to the Supervisor Susan Richards said in an email.
“He (Hudson) serves two other towns in the same capacity, and there was just not enough of him to stretch to continue to do our town, too.”
Angela Lucey, a state-certified building inspector, will be filling in for the Town of Jay on a temporary basis starting July 12.
She will have hours at the Town of Jay Community Center starting July 12, and can be contacted during scheduled office hours, or after July 12 by calling 524-6798. Lucey will be in the office from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12, 16, 25, Aug. 1, 6, 15, 20 and 29.
Any Jay residents interested in the part-time job of building inspector should send a cover letter and resume to Town of Jay Supervisor’s Office, P.O. Box 730, AuSable Forks, NY 12912. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
The inspector must administer and enforce the State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code as well as local laws; maintain safety and health standards as mandated by the state; issue, deny or revoke building permits and Certificates of Occupancy; and perform on-site investigations.
