Students: Sept. 23, 2012

Joshua W.V. Gonyea , son of Wayne and Deborah Gonyea of Morrisonville, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in environmental engineering and a minor in social psychology.

Nathan Myers of Mooers graduated from Messiah College, Grantham, Pa., summa cum laude, with a degree in nutrition and dietetics. He ws a member of the College Honors Program and graduated with departmental honors.

Herkimer County Community College held an end-of-year cookout at which student athletes were recognized with awards in their respective sports. Krista Oakes of Hogansburg, a member of the softball team, received the Female Athlete of the Year award.

Meghan Jebb of Ticonderoga graduated from Rice University, Houston, Texas, with a Master of Arts degree in chemistry.

  • Why do wolves howl?

    Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
