Mayor's Cup sets sail with boat parade, concert

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Plattsburgh Mayor’s Cup Regatta and Festival kicks off tonight.

Earlier in the evening, people can enjoy an outdoor Jumpin’ in July concert on the lawn of the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, located at 23 Brinkerhoff St.

At 5:30 p.m., the Dave Keller Band performs a mixture of music ranging from soul and blues to retro funk.

Then the seventh-annual Boat Parade of Lights will be held 9 to 10 p.m. along the downtown waterfront from Wilcox Dock to the Naked Turtle.

Decorated and lighted boats, with lively crews and music, will glide past to be judged in the competition. The shoreline is usually packed with spectators out to see the show.

Here’s a look at other Mayor’s Cup highlights:


4 to 6:30 p.m.: Trinity Park Stage, Mayor’s Cup Idol semifinals.

4 to 6 p.m.: ARC Kids/Family Zone, lower Court Street parking lot by Trinity Park.

7 to 9 p.m.: Enter the Haggis, Canadian/Indie folk rock world-fusion band at Lions Club Bandshell, near McDonough Monument, City Hall Place.


9 a.m.: Plattsburgh City Beach. Fun Run 5K, fundraiser for North Country Biggest Loser Program. Register at

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Farmers Market, Durkee Street parking lot, Plattsburgh. Local farm produce, baked goods, crafts, arts.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: 36th-annual Mayor’s Cup Regatta, along the waterfront, register online at

10:30 a.m.: Youth Run for Fun, Plattsburgh City Beach.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Family Arts, Entertainment and artist market, Center for the Arts, 23 Brinkerhoff St., Plattsburgh, activities and performances for the entire family and artist vendors.

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: BHSN Kids Carnival in July, for 2 to 6 year olds, City Hall lawn.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: ARC Kids/Family Zone, lower Court Street parking lot by Trinity Park.
