Two local students who attend Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., were awarded grants to do research with a professor this past summer. Devin Latremore, daughter of Amanda and Christopher Latremore of Chazy, a junior biology major who graduated from Chazy Central Rural School, was involved in a project titled “Camp Johnson sandplain forest preburn inventory”; and Marci Wood, daughter of William Wood and Brenda Whalen-Wood of Chateaugay, a junior biology major who graduated from Chateaugay Central School, took part in a project titled “Neuroscience research using leeches.”
Laura Merrill, who is majoring in chemical engineering, was named to the Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the spring 2012 semester. Now a sophomore, she is the daughter of Bill and Karen Merrill of Plattsburgh. The college is located in Worcester, Mass.
The Auxiliary Scholarship Committee of the Foundation of CVPH Medical Center has awarded $9,000 in scholarships to deserving high-school graduates in Clinton County who plan to pursue a career in health care. One $1,000 scholarship was awarded in each of the nine high schools in the county.
