Lighting Contest being  held

MOOERS — The Town Of Mooers Beautification Committee is sponsoring its annual Lighting Contest.

People who wish to participate are asked to call 236-7927. Judging will be Monday, Dec. 17, and people are asked to have their lights on before 5:30 p.m.

“Thank you for decorating your houses,” the committee said in a news release. “It does make our town more festive and helps to get into the spirit of Christmas.”

Woman heads Coat Drive

PLATTSBURGH — The first week of Tina LaSalle’s Coat Drive for the North Country the Plattsburgh woman helped provide outdoor clothing for seven families.

“The winters up here are very cold, and I see so many people without proper winter clothing that it breaks my heart,” she said in a news release.

She intends to accept donations of winter garb year round at her home at 448 Durand Road, with pickups for families there or at a location agreed upon by both parties.

Town of Chazy to sponsor decoration contest

CHAZY — The Town of Chazy will be judging holiday decorations the week of Dec. 17.

There will be first-, second- and third-place prizes for residential, a special prize for best tree and a prize for best-decorated business.

Westport seeks volunteers

WESTPORT — The Town of Westport has openings on the Town Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Youth Commission.

Anyone interested in serving on any of these boards is asked to send a letter of interest by Dec. 31 to Town of Westport, P.O. Box 465, Westport, NY 12993.

City School Board meeting scheduled Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City School Board will meet Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Duken Building.

The public session will start at 7:30 p.m., at which time the board will discuss field trips, various agreements and other personnel and business items.
