TICONDEROGA — Several community organizations have come together in Ticonderoga to create a week of holiday events for children and adults heading toward Christmas.
The celebration starts today and continues until Dec. 9, including the lighting of the community Christmas tree and live singing and music.
Here is the schedule of events:
Museum and Arts Co-Op Holiday Gift Shop: Hancock House, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with participation by Ticonderoga Historical Society, Ticonderoga Heritage Museum, Ticonderoga Arts and Fort Ticonderoga gift shops. Carillion Garden Club wreaths and Ticonderoga Festival Guild 12 Night raffle tickets will be available.
Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony: Ticonderoga Community Building at 5:30 p.m. Live holiday music by Joe McGinness will accompany ceremony. Complimentary refreshments sponsored by Silver Bay YMCA will be available inside. First 20 people will receive a candy cane and special gift.
Holiday ray Rides. Ticonderoga Heritage Museum, 6 to 8 p.m., sponsored by Ticonderoga Youth Commission.
“The Snow Tree” and decorating: All ‘Bout Critters store, 6 to 7 p.m. Join All ‘Bout Critters for the reading of “The Snow Tree” and decorate a snow tree with Nancy and the animals. Bring blankets and non-perishable food donations for local animal shelters.
Meet Woodland Animals and Create A Pine Cone Bird Feeder: All ‘Bout Critters shop, 4 to 5 p.m., family event. $3 per person.
Family Holiday Book Reading: Black Watch Library, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Families are welcome to attend, and children are encouraged to come in pajamas. Snacks will be provided to go following story time. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Letters To Santa and Wish List Night: Sugar and Spice Country Shoppe, 5 to 7 p.m. Children can make a wish list and write a letter to Santa, which will be mailed out. Wish lists will be copied and available at the shop for parents. Parents will receive a 25 percent off coupon for one item from child’s wish list. Refreshments will be served. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
