West Chazy man charged with rape

BEEKMANTOWN — A West Chazy man faces rape charges.

Robert J. Peryer, 23, of West Chazy, allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl on three separate occasions between Aug. 16 and Sept. 28 of this year.

The incidents were reported to police at 10:45 p.m. Oct. 5 by the victim’s father.

Peryer was arrested in the Town of Altona at 11:25 a.m. Nov. 14.

He was charged with three counts of third-degree felony rape — a charge indicating the perpetrator is older than 21 and the victim is younger than 17. Peryer was also charged with one count of acting in a manner to endanger a child younger than the age of 17, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in the Town of Altona Court before Justice Allan Bilow and is scheduled to reappear in court at 7 p.m. Nov. 27.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Clinton County Jail had no record of Peryer as incarcerated there.

No information about bail or bond was available.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
