At least 3 taken to hospital after West Chazy crash

WEST CHAZY — At least three people were taken to the hospital following a two-car accident in West Chazy this afternoon.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to 2924 Military Turnpike at about 2:26 p.m. and traffic was reduced to one lane a few minutes later.

State Police said it looked as though a black Honda Accord crossed the path of a silver Chrysler Pacifica as the two traveled in opposite directions on Military Turnpike.

EMTs from CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh transported some of the victims by ambulance to the hospital.

The two vehicles, whose airbags were deployed, ended up in a drainage ditch about 20 feet away from the road and both had damage to the driver's side and front corner.

The left rear tire had been ripped one of the axles on the Chrysler SUV.

By 3:10 p.m., fire crews were leaving the area and traffic had begun to flow more smoothly.

Responding agencies included fire departments from Beekmantown, West Chazy and Altona along with the county EMS coordinator.

More information will be added to this report as it becomes available.
