Plattsburgh City Council to award contracts tonight

PLATTSBURGH —  The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will take action on numerous items at tonight’s meeting.

Among them are giving the OK to award a contract for breaker replacements at St. Lawrence Substation 1 to Northline Utilities for $648,000, and awarding a contract for roadway and utility improvements on West Court Street for $442,442 to Luck Brothers Inc.

The council will also vote again on a contract to remove mold from a city-owned building at Dock Street Landing.

The council denied a request at the last meeting to do the work, citing the high cost of about $30,000, but the estimate for the job has been re-worked and lowered to $20,604.

The meeting begins with a work session at 5 p.m., followed by the regular session at 5:30 p.m.

Both are open to the public.

Plattsburgh City School Board to meet Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City School Board will meet on Thursday, June 5, at the Duken School Building.

If an executive session is needed, it will be held at 6 p.m. The board will reconvene in public session at 7:30 p.m.

Agenda items include a report from the students in the German American Partnership Program and results from the Veterans Exemption advisory poll taken during the May 20 budget election.

The board will also act on various personnel and business items

DWI Crackdown nets offenders, police say

PLATTSBURGH — Local law enforcement made 10 driving while intoxicated arrests over the course of its Memorial Day Crackdown, between May 22 and 27.

Participating in Clinton County were State Police, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, SUNY University Police, Plattsburgh City Police, State Park Police and ENCON Police.

On Friday, May 23, a traffic checkpoint from midnight to 4 p.m. saw five DWI arrests and one for driving while ability impaired/drugs.
