LPCS Board to meet May 6 in Wilmington

WILMINGTON — The Lake Placid Central School Board will hold a budget hearing and regular meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at the Wilmington Community Center on Springfield Road.

The hearing is set for 7 p.m., with the regular session to follow.

Agenda items include special education and personnel matters.

The public is welcome.


Jay water-valve work to suspend some service

JAY — The Town of Jay Public Works Department is scheduled to replace a leaking 6-inch valve located just before the intersection of Covered Bridge Lane and Glen Road in Jay on Wednesday, May 7, beginning at 8 a.m.

The following Jay areas (not AuSable Forks or Upper Jay) will be without water from approximately 8 a.m. to noon: from Ward Lumber throughout 9N and 9S, John Fountain Road, Covered Bridge Lane and Brick Store Lane.

If the work takes longer than four hours, the State Department of Health will be notified as well as the residents.


Rouses Point talent contest canceled

ROUSES POINT — The Rouses Point Samuel de Champlain Center Stage “Got Talent” competition has been canceled due to lack of participation.

Auditions had been set for May 9, but too few signed up by the April 18 deadline, organizer Steve Merchant said.

The semi-finalists were to have performed on the stage, located on the ground of the Rouses Point Recreation Center, this summer.

Instead, Merchant said, he has lined up other performers.

That schedule will be released in the near future, he said.


Town of Plattsburgh zoning, codes tour set 

PLATTSBURGH — Town of Plattsburgh Codes and Zoning Enforcement officials will make a tour of the town Monday, May 12, through Friday, May 16.
