Fuller Road to close for culvert work

PERU — The Town of Peru Highway Department will be closing Fuller Road from April 28 through June 30 to repair a culvert.

There will be no through traffic allowed.


Bar Association plans Law Day Dinner

ELIZABETHTOWN — In celebration of the 55th-annual Law Day, the Essex County Bar Association will hold a dinner on Thursday, May 1, at Deer’s Head Inn in Elizabethtown.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day by proclamation in 1958 and the American Bar Association instituted May 1 as Law Day.

Throughout New York, bar associations on all levels set aside this day to recognize the contributions of citizens, lawyers and judges.

At this year’s dinner, the Essex County Bar Association will present the Liberty Bell Award to Joseph Provoncha of North Hudson in recognition of his many years of volunteer work in the community.

The public may attend the dinner. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7, with the award to immediately follow. The price is $25 per person, including salad, choice of entree (prime rib, lemon-dill salmon or stuffed chicken), dessert, tax and tip.

Keeseville picking up brush, leaves

KEESEVILLE — The Village of Keeseville will be picking up brush and leaves through the end of May.

Brush must be no larger than 4 inches in diameter, and leaves must be bagged and placed curbside.


School boards to hear shared-service findings Monday

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board and Plattsburgh City School Board will meet at 6:15 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the all-purpose room at Beekmantown Elementary School, 37 Eagle Way, West Chazy. 

Agenda items include findings of the Shared Services Study by Alan Pole & Jessica Cohen, Education Consultants of Castallo & Silky. 

The public is encouraged to attend.
