Keeseville rapist sentenced to jail time

PLATTSBURGH — A Keeseville man was sentenced recently to jail time for a rape charge.

Scott Duffany, 20, had sexual intercourse with a person younger than 15 in the Town of AuSable on Sept. 2, 2013, said Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Domenica Padula.

He was arrested later that month and charged with second-degree rape, a felony, she said.

Duffany pleaded guilty to that charge and was sentenced in Clinton County Court by Judge Patrick McGill to six months in jail and 10 years of probation.

He is required to register with the state as a Level 1 sex offender, and he was ordered to provide a DNA sample and pay the $50 sample-collection fee.

Duffany must also pay a $375 surcharge and a $1,000 sex-offender fee.

A stay-away order of protection was put in place to protect the victim.
