---- — PLATTSBURGH — City streets will be used by hundreds of runners in the Plattsburgh Half-Marathon on Sunday, April 27.

The 13.1-mile race will start at 8 a.m. at the City Recreation Center on U.S. Oval and end there at around 11 a.m.

City Recreation Superintendent Steve Peters said 832 people had registered as of Thursday.

The average age is 36, and 63 percent are female, he said.

Local people make up 67 percent of the runners.

Peters said that with 33 percent of the runners coming from out of town, the economic impact of the race will be significant.

“We encourage people to get along the route and support the runners and respect them for what they are trying to accomplish,” he said.

Peters also urged motorists to be aware of the possible delays and to be patient with volunteers.

“They are there not to keep people from getting somewhere, but to help them get there the best and safest way possible for everyone,” Peters said.
