Community Calendar: April 25, 2014

TODAY

Story Time. 10 to 11 a.m., Chazy Public Library, 1329 Fiske Road. For preschool and elementary-age children with Matt Moors, senior project. Pre-register at 846-7676.

Road Cleanup Project. 1 p.m., McBride Road, Chazy. Senior project with Matt Moors. Call 572-3316 to participate.

Saranac Lake Daffest. 5 to 8 p.m., Blue Moon Kickoff Daffest and welcome party; 5:30 p.m., Daffest Try Mine Pastry Contest, sponsored by King Arthur Flour; 6 p.m., Tupper Lake Ecumenical Choir performs; 8 to 11 p.m., Latin Dance Party, sponsored by the Downtown Advisory Committee, Harrietstown Town Hall.

ANZAC Day. To honor Capt. Paul McKay, an Australian soldier who died by suicide on Scarface Mountain in January. Memorial Service, 11 a.m., World War I Memorial, corner of River and Church streets, Saranac Lake. Includes posting of the colors by Honor Guard, U.S. and Australian national anthem and addresses by Mayor Clyde Rabideau, retired Rev. Col. Eric Olsen, retired Gen. Loree Sutton and Australian Major Cameron Satrap; also, benefit spaghetti dinner, 5 to 8 p.m., Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club, Route 3, Saranac Lake, hosted by Homeward Bound with proceeds to support ongoing work for military veterans and their families. Dinner is $8 for adults, $5 for kids under 12, and kids under 5 eat free. Takeout and delivery available. Call 891-4151 to arrange delivery; and Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome Awareness Films, 7 p.m., Adirondack State Theater, 100 Park St., Tupper Lake. Films: “Happy New Year” and “High Ground” will be shown.
