Workshop offered for those interested in pig raising
JAY — Ward Lumber will be hosting a free educational seminar titled Swine Night at their Jay store location on Wednesday, May 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. for anyone who is interested in raising pigs.
Topics include Swine Nutrition 101; Feeds and Feed Highlights; Pasture Raised Pork; Common Diseases; Feed Prices; and Feed Your Pigs Right ... So You Eat Right.
The guest speaker is Andrew Beals, technical Manager for Poulin Grain Specialty Feeds. He has had a life-long involvement with pigs, horses, sheep and poultry. His B.S. degree in Agriculture from the University of Vermont focused on Nutrition, Economics, and Plant and Soil Science. Danielle Mosher, animal nutrition specialist from Poulin Grain, will also be available to answer questions.

Beekeeping group will meet to share information
CANTON — An informal Bees and BeeKeeping Discussion Group will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Betty Evans Community Room in the new addition to the E.J. Noble Medical Bldg., 80 E. Main Street, Canton. The idea is to provide a comfortable setting where participants can share valuable information about local beekeeping with each other.
This session begins the fourth year that the group will meet on the last Wednesday of the month. All levels of beekeeper are welcome, from those just interested in the idea, to those with a home hive or two, to those who have many.
