Five appointed to APA Board

RAY BROOK — Appointments to the Adirondack Park Agency have been approved by the State Legislature.

APA Chairwoman Leilani Ulrich was reconfirmed to her position, along with APA Commissioners Arthur Lussi, a businessman from Lake Placid, and William Thomas, former supervisor of Johnsburg.

In the final days of legislative session, two new commissioners were confirmed to replace long-term outgoing appointees.

Karen Feldman, an attorney from Hudson, will replace Cecil Wray, who has served since 1999.

Daniel Wilt, a local businessman from Lake Pleasant, fills the seat held by Frank Mezzano, former supervisor of Lake Pleasant.

Both Feldman and Wilt were nominated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Richard Booth, an attorney and environmental law professor at Cornell University, was not reappointed in this round. He is serving in the expired four-year term he has held since June 2008.

The appointments are for four years.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
