Two Wilmington men charged with burglary

AuSABLE FORKS — Police have arrested two Wilmington men they say broke into a home and assaulted an AuSable Forks man with a baseball bat.

Shortly before 11:30 Sunday night, Ray Brook-based State Police responded to a residence on Main Street in AuSable Forks and found Andrew J. Parrow, 19, with lacerations to his head and other less severe injuries.

Parrow was taken by AuSable Forks Emergency Medical Services to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment and later released.

Initial investigation revealed that two men forced their way into the residence, assaulted Parrow with a baseball bat and fled in a white 2004 Pontiac car, according to a State Police press release.

Investigator Jonathan Garrow of Ray Brook-based State Police said it’s unclear why the two men assaulted Parrow but it could have stemmed from an ongoing dispute that had started earlier that day.

Garrow said that at least one baseball bat was used, but it was unknown Tuesday if only one or both suspects had struck Parrow with it.

On Monday, Ray Brook-based State Police located the Pontiac at the home of Jacob E. Dahl, 25, of Wilmington.

A police blotter entry lists Dahl’s time of arrest as 3:50 a.m. at 5734 State Route 86. He was charged with first-degree burglary, a felony.

In New York state, first-degree burglary describes an offense in which a person illegally enters a residence with the intent of committing a crime there, which can include causing physical injury to a person or using a dangerous instrument.

Dahl was processed at the State Police barracks in Wilmington then arraigned before Wilmington Town Justice Timothy Kertz. He was then taken to Essex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.

Dahl was released after posting bond.

He is due to reappear in court again at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Wilmington Town Court.
