Fall festival planned for Rouses Point

---- — ROUSES POINT — Rouses Point Village Trustee Brad Martin hopes to give area residents something to look forward to this fall.

Other than the annual Holiday Train, he said, “there’s not really too much going on in the area.”

To remedy that, Martin has organized a three-day fall festival, which will begin Friday, Sept. 21, and take place on the grounds of the Rouses Point Civic Center.

The event, sponsored by Montgomery Hose, Hook and Ladder Company and Border Press, will include carnival games, food concessions and rides by Amyland Amusements.

“The rides are for all ages,” Martin said.

Admittance to the festival is free, and ride tickets are $1 each.

Bracelets, allowing four hours of unlimited ride access, will be available for $20.

Martin hopes the event will not only give families an opportunity to have fun together, but also bring people out who may also drop in at local businesses to do a little shopping.

Though the festival will be rather small this year, he said, the goal is to make it an annual occasion that grows over time.

Eventually, Martin would like to involve local wineries and vendors of home-grown produce in the event.

“It’s something to be expanded on,” he said.

“Hopefully, this can grow.”

The festival will take place 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
