Water break closing Malone school early today

MALONE — A water main break will close Davis Elementary School at 10:15 a.m. today.

According to Malone Village Police, a 10-foot section of the water main on Webster Street needs to be replaced, and area residences and businesses will be affected, though a boil water order has not been issued.

“We don’t know the extent of the repairs yet,” a police department spokesman said.

Department of Public Works Supervisor Paul Hutchins said his workers will begin repairs once children are let out of school.

Davis Elementary School and the surrounding area will be without water during the repair.

“The water will probably be shut off for three or four hours,” he said. “It’s one of these things that happens in the winter.”

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
