Town of Plattsburgh kicks off photo contest

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh is holding a photo contest.

The winning images, which must be taken within town boundaries, will be featured on the community’s website to help brand and define the town as a destination.

Contestants can submit as many as five photos for consideration by a panel of local photographers. Submissions should include 25 to 100 words about the image, including the photographer’s name, location within the town, the date and a caption describing the picture.

Photographs will be judged in two categories: cultural events, including sports; and town places, such as nature, landscapes and built environment.

The winners, to be announced later this summer, will be awarded a prize in each category.

The photographer is responsible for obtaining the proper releases from individuals depicted in any photograph.

Email entries to micheleb@townofplattsburgh.com with Photo Contest in the subject line. Entries will be accepted through Aug. 12.

Photos should be JPEG format with a resolution of 1,280 by 1,024 pixels. Any images submitted become property of the town for future use.

A Town of Plattsburgh map can be found by clicking “Comprehensive Plan & Maps with Expansion” in the Planning Department section of the Town of Plattsburgh website, www.townofplattsburgh.com, to help determine town boundaries.

Call the Planning Department at 562-6850 for further information.
