RIDE FOR THE RIVER
The Ausable River Association’s Ride for the River starts starts at the Village Green in the hamlet of Jay on Route 9N.
Cyclists of all ages and skill levels can register for one of three scenic routes, designed by LeepOff Cycles of Keene Valley, along the Ausable River.
Departures are at 8:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., depending on the route chosen. The amount of the registration fee also depends on the route. Registration is open at RideForTheRiver.org.
Following the ride, from about 11:30 to 2:30 p.m., a picnic and live music by Darryl Stout and Eric Klotzko is planned at the Jay Covered Bridge. A new canoe is being raffled.
This year’s ride is in memory of Carol Rupprecht, a dedicated steward of the Ausable River.
Association Director Corrie Miller called the ride “a chance to honor all that the river provides – clean water, exceptional recreational opportunities, a healthy ecosystem, an aesthetic beauty unrivaled and the strong ties between our valley communities.”
The Ausable River Association is a non-profit, community-supported organization that works cooperatively with landowners, municipalities, other organizations and government agencies to protect the resources of the Ausable Watershed.
All proceeds will benefit the association’s work.
