Newsmakers: May 26, 2013

Catherine Gregory, budget officer for the Town of North Elba, has been elected to her first term on the New York State Government Finance Officer’s Association Board of Governors. She has been an active member of the association since 2006 and previously served on the Northeastern Region Council from 2010 to present. The association’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of government finance professionals to manage public finances effectively and responsibly and to use the collective knowledge and expertise of its members for the public benefit by enhancing government efficiency and accountability throughout New York.

Bill Glidden of Cliff Haven, Plattsburgh, has been recognized by the New York State Association of Public Historians as a registered public historian. Glidden has been an advocate of local and state history on may levels, including writing numerous articles for newsletters and other publications, working to establish the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center in Saratoga Springs, playing an active role in the regional chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and fostering positive relationships with local historical organizations and in Canada. He serves as the Town of Plattsburgh deputy town historian, as a member of the Adirondack Coast Cultural Alliance, the War of 1812 Bicentennial Council and with the Battle of Plattsburgh plus several additional historically significant events.

Heidi Dennis, an attorney with O’Connell & Aronowitz in Plattsburgh, has joined the Board of Directors of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. She graduated from Albany Law School and Utica College of Syracuse University and is an active member of thelocal community. She serves on the Attorney for the Child Panel for Clinton County and the Board of Trustees for the Clinton County Historical Association and the Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country. Dennis is also past president of the Clinton County Bar Association.
