Norfolk man killed in motorcycle crash

HARRIETSTOWN — After entering a sharp curve and driving off the road for an unknown reason, a motorcyclist was killed Saturday after being ejected from his vehicle.

At about 1:10 p.m., Ricky Aslanian, 60, of Norfolk, N.Y., was traveling north on State Route 30 near the intersection of County Route 45 when he drove off the east shoulder of the road, State Police said.

Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake Rescue, as well as the Tupper Lake Fire Department, responded to the scene to find Aslanian still breathing but unresponsive. He showed no signs of physical trauma, other than scratches on his face, police said.

Aslanian was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The helmet with an attached visor and shield that Aslanian was wearing was still in good condition and intact, with damage only to the face shield, police said.
