Development group to hold public forums

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Regional Economic Development Council is holding seven public forums to discuss its progress and share information on job growth opportunities.

Among them are sessions in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

The forums will include a presentation to the public on Round 3 of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative, competitive funding guidelines and progress made on the implementation of the North Country Strategic Plan and Progress Report since last year.

There will then be a period for attendees to offer comments, information and input to the council on plan implementation and potential projects.

The Plattsburgh forum is set for 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Stafford Theater at Clinton Community College.

The Ticonderoga session will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. the same day at the Great Room in the Mars Education Center at Fort Ticonderoga.

The Malone forum will be 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Malone Golf Club.

Those unable to attend can visit www.northcountryopenforbusiness.com to find the council’s Strategic Plan, Progress Report and other important documents, submit comments and suggestions and register to receive the council’s e-newsletter.

PROJECT DEADLINE SET

The North Country Regional Economic Development Council is also seeking proposals for projects to be identified and recommended as priority projects for the third round of Governor Cuomo’s Regional Council initiative. Priority projects are chosen based on their ability to stimulate job creation, private sector investment and transformational economic growth in accordance with the goals identified by the council’s Strategic Plan.

All project applicants must complete the Consolidated Funding Application by the deadline, set for 4 p.m. Aug. 12. Applications and other materials are available at https://apps.cio.ny.gov/apps/cfa.

Once an application is submitted, it goes to the local Regional Council to be reviewed and ranked as part of its strategic planning process.
