City crash results in injuries, traffic jam

PLATTSBURGH — Two people were injured in a two-car accident Tuesday afternoon in the City of Plattsburgh.

Chateaugay resident Meaghan A. Lamica, 24, was driving north on Peru Street in her 2014 Kia when she collided with a 2012 Honda driven by 70-year-old Sandra Desso, City Police said.

Desso, who is from Murrells Inlet, S.C., had been driving south on Peru Street and was making a left onto Hamilton Street when the accident occurred.

Desso's vehicle rolled onto its roof, police said.

Both Lamica and Desso complained of chest pain, but only Desso was transported by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center.

The hospital had no information on her condition Tuesday night.

Desso was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way when turning left, police said.

The ambulance tied up traffic in that neighborhood during the late afternoon.
