New barber

PLATTSBURGH — Classy Images Salon, located at 19 Weed St. and owned by Denise and Kevin Sheehan, has expanded its services. Their newest service is provided by Master Barber Charles Fielder of Syracuse, who is now part of the team.

Fielder owned two barbershops in the Syracuse area. Now living in Plattsburgh, he brings 20 years experience with him, and was especially welcome as younger master barbers are very difficult to find.

Master barbering means that Fielder has gone back to school and taken his profession to the highest level, and he is extremely passionate about his profession. He is skilled in military cuts, straight-razor cuts, hot-towel shaves, fro-hawks, mohawks, razor lines and facial peels. He fits in perfectly with the other stylists, nail techs and massage therapist.

Classy Images is now a fully licensed New York State Barbershop and New York State Appearance Enhancement Salon, which allowed Fielder to apply for his shop renters license.

His clientele includes individuals working in the military, customs, correction officers, service recruiters and children. He accepts walk-ins or by appointment.

Award received

WEST CHAZY — George Thew has received the Industrial Chimney Company (ICC) Innovation Award for his contribution to the development of a unique, problem-solving component that is now being sold throughout North America, according to ICC, a manufacturer of residential chimneys and pellet-stove vent pipe located in St Jerome, Que.

Thew is the owner of Heat Wave, a stove and fireplace store located in West Chazy at 8969 Route 22. Heat Wave offers a wide range of hearth appliances and accessories, including wood and gas stoves and fireplaces as well as pellet stoves, hearth pads and chimney and venting systems for oil, gas, wood and pellet-burning appliances.

The ICC Innovation Award recognizes hearth professionals who have, through their experience and ingenuity, shared ideas for venting components with ICC that have been put into production. Thew is both an experienced installer and an innovator. He joins a select group of hearth professionals in the Northeast receiving this award, and the special flue adapter he contributed has become a top-selling part for the company.
