Rugar Street construction moved to Aug. 4

PLATTSBURGH — To avoid interference with Fourth of July traffic, a construction project that will install traffic tables — raised sidewalks — on Rugar Street has been postponed to Monday, Aug. 4.

Originally planned for the Fourth of July week, this traffic-calming measure is designed to increase pedestrian and vehicle safety along the highly traveled part of the street that runs through the SUNY Plattsburgh campus.

John W. Sheehan and Sons Inc. will begin the installation on Aug. 4, with the work expected to run through Aug. 14.

This project will affect traffic at various points in the process. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to pay attention to signage and look for directions from flaggers.
