TUPPER LAKE — State Police are investigating the death of a dog that they say appears to have been drowned.
The incident was reported on June 20, when someone found the German shepherd in Tupper Lake with a cinder block tied to its neck, State Police said in a news release.
Police estimate the dog died around the beginning of June.
Assisting in the investigation are the State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Tupper Lake Police Department.
Another dead canine was found early this month in Lake George at Steamboat Landing off Baldwin Road in Ticonderoga near the Warren County Line.
A rope was tied around the dog's midsection, and Ticonderoga Town Police Chief Mark Johns previously told the Press-Republican the death looked suspicious and could have been an intentional drowning.
The dog was a small breed that resembled a Jack Russell terrier.
Police determined the animal had been in the water more than a week before it was found.
No information on the status of that investigation was immediately available.
Those with information on the State Police case are urged to contact Trooper Reinaldo Alvarez at 897-2000.
