Plattsburgh man among casino winners

AKWESASNE — A total 58 winners shared more than $208,000 in jackpots on June 18 at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort.

Among them was Gerald Menard of Plattsburgh, who won $25,000 playing 5X 10X Pay.

It was a record-breaking day for jackpot wins, a press release from the casino said.

“We have many jackpots that go out every day, but last Wednesday was an extra lucky day for our players,” General Manager Patrick Bassney said in the release.

The Manager’s Special Jackpot was awarded to a man from the Ottawa region, who took home $34,662. He and his wife were celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary, the release said, and he hit the jackpot on the 49th number.

A Cornwall, Ontario, resident won the Mohawk Bingo Palace G-Spot Jackpot, a cash prize of $10,000.

A Bloomingdale resident won $10,000 on Double 7s, and a person from Brasher Falls took home $5,431 on Stinkin’ Rich.

"We’re always glad to see familiar faces win,” Bassney said, noting many winners were from the region.

Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort is owned by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe of Akwesasne.

It includes 130,000 square feet of gaming, with more than 1,800 of the newest slot and video poker titles, a large selection of table games and the 540-seat Mohawk Bingo Palace.
